We are looking for a skilled Carpet Installer to join us! In this position, you will be responsible for removing and installing carpets for our clients. You will discuss and assess the clients’ carpeting needs and expectations, take measurements, and inspect and prepare the surface for the installation process. You will use various tools and equipment to accurately install and fit carpets and remove any excess.
Additionally, you will present carpet samples to clients to select which one they want and advise them on proper carpet maintenance. You will also order the necessary supplies from the warehouse, correct carpet imperfections, clean the area before and after installation processes, and ensure the quality of the work performed.
Ultimately, you should have excellent technical, communication, and math skills, as well as immaculate physical fitness and attention to detail.
Duties and responsibilities
- Meet with clients to discuss and assess their carpeting needs and expectations
- Inspect the surface and determine its condition
- Remove old carpets if there are any and prepare floors for the installation of new ones
- Determine the room measurements and cut the required amount of carpet
- Present carpet samples for client selection
- Install carpets to floors, stairs, and other surfaces using staplers, nails, glue, and other tools
- Arrange installation days with clients and order the necessary stock from the warehouse
- Advise clients on proper carpet maintenance
- Correct imperfections and finish edges with a wall trimmer
- Ensure carpets fit the room perfectly and remove any excess
- Clean the working area before and after the installation process
- Ensure the quality of the installation and provide excellent customer service
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior working experience as a Carpet Installer is desirable
- Certification from the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI) is beneficial
- Knowledge of various installation tools and equipment, such as hammers, measuring tapes, staplers, etc
- Familiarity with different techniques used in the carpet installation processes
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to work long shifts
- Strong attention to detail
- Great math and analytical skills
