If your job isn't showing on Indeed, it's usually one of five things:
- It's still processing
- It's live, but you're not seeing it
- Indeed removed it as a duplicate
- Your employer account needs attention
- Indeed requires sponsorship for that job
Most of these take a few minutes to check and fix.
This guide covers how long a new job normally takes to appear, how to confirm it's live, and what to do for each cause, including what changes when your jobs reach Indeed through a hiring platform.
If you're tired of wondering where your jobs are, a hiring platform like AvaHR sends each job to 100+ job boards, including Indeed, and keeps every applicant in one place.
How long does it take for a job to show up on Indeed?
Indeed says its review process typically takes 24 to 48 hours. A new job goes through processing and quality checks before it becomes searchable, and Indeed doesn't guarantee that timeframe.
If your job reaches Indeed through a hiring platform, there are a few more steps:
- Review by the platform. Many hiring platforms check new jobs before sending them out. AvaHR reviews new jobs as soon as possible on working days, so a job published on Friday night is reviewed on Monday.
- Delivery to Indeed. The approved job goes to Indeed through the platform's connection.
- Processing by Indeed. Indeed runs its checks, then adds the job to search.
- Showing up in results. Indeed and every other job board run their own review, so timing varies by board.
So from "I hit publish" to "I can find it in search" can take a few working days, longer over a weekend. That's normal, not a sign something's broken.
One mistake to avoid: don't take down a job that's already working before its replacement is visible. One HR manager we spoke with closed her existing Indeed listings to move them to a new system. The new ones weren't showing yet, and she lost five days of applicants. Keep the old listing up until you can see the new one.
How to check whether your job is live
Searching Indeed yourself is the least reliable way to check. Results are personalized by location, search history, and filters, so a live job can be invisible to you while job seekers see it fine.
Check in this order:
- Your Indeed employer account. Open the Jobs section of your employer dashboard. All jobs includes jobs sent from a hiring platform. Check whether the job shows as Open, Paused, or Closed, or as processing or under review.
- Your hiring platform. If you use one, check that the job is approved and published, not still in review or saved as a draft.
- A clean search. Open a private or incognito browser window and search the exact job title plus the city. Try the company name too.
If the status is Open, the job is most likely live, and the real question may be why it isn't getting applicants. If the status shows a problem, or the job isn't in your account at all, work through the causes below.
Why your job isn't showing on Indeed, and how to fix it
It's still processing
If you published within the last two working days, give it time. Check the status in your account, and don't publish the job again in the meantime. A second copy can get the first one removed as a duplicate.
Indeed removed it as a duplicate
Indeed says each real job opportunity should appear only once on Indeed. If the same job is listed directly on Indeed and also sent from a hiring platform or career site, Indeed may hide or remove a copy, or require sponsorship for it.
Fix: Pick one source for each job. If you're moving to a hiring platform, contact Indeed employer support to check for source conflicts, and ask Indeed to recognize the platform as your primary posting source. Close the direct listing only once the new one is visible.
Your employer account isn't verified
Indeed says jobs can't go live until your employer account is verified, and an account under review may have reduced visibility.
Fix: Complete any verification Indeed asks for in your employer account. Claiming your company page is still worth doing, since it controls how your business appears to candidates, but Indeed doesn't list an unclaimed page as a reason jobs stay hidden.
The job doesn't meet Indeed's quality standards
Indeed may hide, lower, or remove jobs that don't meet its quality standards. Common triggers include:
- A vague or clickbait title, or one with emojis or symbols, such as "Amazing opportunity" instead of "Dental assistant"
- Missing or unclear pay, location, or work hours
- Asking job seekers to pay to apply, interview, or be hired, including training, uniform, or background-check fees
- The same job listed again with small changes instead of updating the original
- A job that's already filled, or isn't a real opening
- A location that doesn't match where the work actually happens
Pay deserves extra attention. Many US states have pay transparency rules, and in those markets Indeed may keep a job without pay out of search, including jobs sent from hiring software.
Fix: Use a plain job title people actually search for, include pay, location, and hours, update an existing job rather than creating a new copy, and close jobs once they're filled.
Indeed requires sponsorship for this job
Some jobs only get real visibility when they're sponsored. Indeed says it may require sponsorship for:
- Staffing agencies, recruitment process outsourcers, and other recruiting businesses (Indeed's terms make sponsorship required here)
- Identical jobs listed in several locations
- Commission-only roles, especially remote ones
- Confidential listings or generic company names
- Jobs that require relocation
- Hard-to-fill jobs
Indeed's terms also require sponsorship in two situations that catch employers out:
- Mixing sources. You list a job directly on Indeed while your other jobs already reach Indeed for free through a hiring platform, career site, or feed.
- Applying elsewhere. A job listed directly on Indeed sends applicants to an outside site to apply.
Using a hiring platform on its own doesn't make every job a paid listing. The trouble usually starts when jobs reach Indeed from two places at once.
Fix: If your job fits one of these, check your account for a sponsorship prompt. Our guide to what it costs to post a job on Indeed explains how sponsored budgets work and how to cap them.
Your jobs come through a feed Indeed no longer shows for free
Since March 31, 2026, jobs sent to Indeed through single-source XML feeds appear only when they're sponsored, if those jobs could come through an integrated hiring system instead. Indeed now expects jobs from integrated systems to arrive through the integration.
This mostly affects employers whose jobs reach Indeed through a custom feed or a third-party tool, even though their hiring system connects to Indeed directly. If your free jobs quietly disappeared this spring, this may be why. Feeds from systems without an Indeed integration aren't affected for now.
Fix: Check whether your hiring system is listed in Indeed's Integrations Hub. If it is, send jobs through that integration rather than a feed. Your hiring system's support team or your Indeed account manager can help you switch.
If you use AvaHR, this change doesn't affect you. AvaHR is an Indeed Platinum ATS partner, so your jobs reach Indeed through that integration automatically.
It expired or was closed
Free jobs on Indeed stay live for up to 30 days. After that, they stop showing unless you sponsor them, and a job listed more than 30 days ago needs sponsorship to reopen.
Fix: Check whether the job expired. To keep it free, it has to go up as a new job.
You've used your free jobs for the month
In the US, Indeed allows 3 free jobs per calendar month for jobs listed directly on Indeed. Once you hit the limit, new jobs need sponsorship to show in search. A few details catch people out:
- Closed jobs still count. Close a job early, and it still uses one of your 3.
- Duplicates count. Copying a job to create a new one uses another free spot.
- Linked accounts share one limit. If your company has separate Indeed accounts for different locations, brands, or franchises linked under one parent company, they share 3 free jobs a month in total, not 3 each.
- The count resets monthly. It goes back to zero at midnight on the first of each month, in your time zone.
Multi-location businesses hit this fastest. One location's manager uses the free jobs, and another location's job quietly needs sponsorship.
Fix: Check with anyone else who lists jobs on your company's Indeed accounts, then sponsor the job or wait for the reset. Indeed's free job limit applies only to jobs listed directly on Indeed. Jobs sent through an applicant tracking system aren't affected.
It's under review or blocked
Indeed's Trust and Safety team reviews new jobs, and a job stays pending, and out of search, until it's approved. Indeed can also flag a job or review an account. You may see a message in the job, a notice on your Jobs page, or an email, but Indeed doesn't guarantee a notification every time.
Fix: Respond to any request from Indeed, and contact Indeed support if the review doesn't clear.
Using a hiring platform? What's different
When your jobs reach Indeed through a hiring platform, Indeed's rules still apply, but a few extra things are worth checking.
- The platform's review comes first. A job still in review hasn't been sent to Indeed yet. Check its status in your platform before looking on Indeed.
- The connection matters. Indeed now expects jobs from integrated hiring systems to arrive through the integration, not a separate single-source feed. AvaHR is an Indeed Platinum ATS partner, so jobs go to Indeed through a direct integration and candidates apply on Indeed itself.
- One source per job. If you also list jobs directly on Indeed while your platform's jobs reach Indeed for free, Indeed's terms require you to sponsor the direct ones. Listing the same job from both places also risks a duplicate removal. Let one source handle your jobs.
- Sponsorship can still apply. Free visibility through a hiring platform isn't guaranteed for every job. Indeed may still require sponsorship for some roles.
- Your Indeed account still counts. If you also have an Indeed employer account, make sure it's verified. Indeed won't let jobs from an unverified account go live.
- Your free job limit isn't touched. Indeed says its 3-free-jobs limit applies only to jobs listed directly on Indeed, not jobs sent through an applicant tracking system. Free visibility still isn't guaranteed, since Indeed's quality rules apply.
When a job is live but quiet, the issue usually isn't visibility anymore.
It's the job itself: the title, the pay, or requirements that shrink the pool. A good hiring platform's support team will help you fix that.
One dealership group we worked with could find one of its jobs on ZipRecruiter but not Indeed after two days, and had no candidates yet. AvaHR's support team reviewed the jobs and found changes worth making: titles people actually search for, commission and benefits moved higher, and fewer requirements narrowing the pool.
When to contact support
Get help if your job still isn't visible two working days after it was approved, or right away if your account shows a block, a review, or a sponsorship requirement you don't understand.
Who to contact depends on where the problem is:
- Your hiring platform's support, if the job is stuck in review, rejected, or not appearing on any job board.
- Indeed support, if the job shows as active on your end, but Indeed lists it as removed, blocked, or under review. Sign in to your employer dashboard, select Help, then Contact us. If you can't sign in, create a support case through Indeed's Help Center.
Either way, have the job title, location, the date you published it, and a screenshot of its status ready. It saves a round of back-and-forth.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my job hidden on Indeed?
Usually because it's still processing, it was removed as a duplicate, your employer account needs verification, it doesn't meet Indeed's quality standards, or Indeed requires sponsorship for it. Check the job's status in your Indeed employer account first.
Why can't I find my own job when I search Indeed?
Indeed personalizes results by location, history, and filters. Your job can be live and visible to job seekers even if your own search doesn't show it. Check its status in your account, or search the exact title and city in a private browser window.
Does Indeed remove jobs?
Yes. Indeed may hide, lower, or remove jobs that are duplicates, expired, already filled, misleading, or against its policies. Free jobs stop showing after 30 days unless they're sponsored.
My job is live in my hiring platform. Why isn't it on Indeed?
It may still be in review, still processing at Indeed, or blocked by a duplicate or account issue. Allow Indeed's typical 24 to 48 hours after approval, then contact your platform's support with the job details.
