We are hiring a motivated individual who will join us as a Progressive Claims Adjuster Trainee. In this position, you will work under the supervision and guidance of senior Claims Adjusters to learn about the policies, procedures, and strategies related to claims adjustment processes. You will be responsible for communicating with claimants and providing general assistance, analyzing contracts, policies, and other documentation, and performing legal research.
In addition, you will assist in the investigation and evaluation of insurance claims and property damage, compile statistical and administrative reports, and gather additional evidence and information from claimants, witnesses, and relevant professionals. Ultimately, you will collaborate with other departments to ensure proper claims processes and compliance with industry regulations.
To be successful in this role, you should have solid insurance knowledge, communication, attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Duties and responsibilities
- Learn about the policies, procedures, and strategies related to claims adjustment under the supervision of senior claims adjusters
- Assist in the investigation and evaluation of insurance claims and property damage
- Liaise with claimants and provide general claims assistance
- Review and analyze contracts, policies, correspondence, and other documentation
- Assist in compiling statistical and administrative reports
- Perform legal research and approve or deny claims as appropriate
- Gather additional evidence and information from claimants, witnesses, or relevant professionals
- Conduct on-site inspections and evaluations to determine coverage applicability
- Learn about insurance policies to understand coverage limits and different types of claims
- Collaborate with underwriting and legal departments to ensure accurate claims processes
- Ensure claimants are informed about the status of their claims
- Identify incomplete or fraudulent claims and send them for further investigation
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and guidelines through the claims-handling process
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- A degree in insurance, finance, law, or legal studies is preferred
- A state-specific license is mandatory
- Solid understanding of insurance principles and claims handling procedures
- Previous customer service experience is an asset
