We are searching for an experienced Travel Consultant to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for identifying clients’ travel needs and preferences and recommending suitable travel arrangements based on their budgets and wishes. You will research various domestic and international destinations, transportation, accommodation, and other information to provide clients with relevant and accurate travel plans and arrangements. You will also book tickets, hotels, sightseeing tours, car rentals, and other services.
Your goal will be to provide clients with an immaculate travel experience by tending to their wishes. You should also inform them about customs, currencies, insurance, and documentation requirements. Furthermore, you will be responsible for collecting deposits and payments and maintaining databases and statistical records.
As a Travel Consultant, you should have outstanding customer service, communication, problem-solving, digital, and organizational skills.
Duties and responsibilities
- Discuss and identify clients’ travel needs, preferences, and specifications
- Research various domestic and international destinations, accommodation, transportation, customers, etc
- Present clients with suitable travel plans based on their budgets and requirements
- Recommend hotels, resorts, destinations, activities, and transportation
- Organize and coordinate flight and hotel reservations, ground transportation, sightseeing tours, car rentals, and other travel services
- Arrange and book tickets for flights, cruises, buses, tourist attractions, etc
- Explain different types of insurance policies, documentation requirements, and other necessary information
- Supply travelers with information about weather conditions, customs, cancellation policies, currencies, etc
- Develop promotional techniques and distribute promotional materials to sell tour packages, excursions, and daily trips
- Collect travel deposits and payments
- Assist clients with passport applications and obtaining visas for foreign travels
- Handle travel emergencies and other travel-related issues that may arise
- Maintain client database and statistical and financial records
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in travel, tourism, hospitality, or business
- A completed certification program may be required
- Prior working experience in the tourism industry
- Strong knowledge of reservation and ticketing programs and traveling software
- Exceptional knowledge of various travel aspects (currencies, customs, transportation, destinations, documentation, etc)
- Outstanding customer service and communication
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
