“We built AvaHR to provide a simple tool for small businesses to compete for talent against big companies, without the burden of high costs and unnecessary features.
Our aim is to help small businesses attract better candidates and grow by offering clutter-free and easy-to-use software.
AvaHR is the product that I wish existed when I was growing my first business, and I am truly passionate about helping small businesses hire better candidates.”
– Ryan Naylor, Founder of AvaHR
AvaHR is dedicated to empowering small businesses by helping them hire the right person as quickly as possible. We understand that for small businesses, every hire is critical. Losing a key team member can disrupt operations, increase workloads for other employees, and create uncertainty for business owners.
Our platform is designed to address these challenges with features, technology, and tools that streamline the hiring process. We aim to be a trusted partner for small businesses, providing the support they need to overcome the fear of being held back by bad hires or vacant positions.
By focusing on speed, efficiency, and accuracy in hiring, AvaHR helps small businesses thrive, ensuring every function of our company aligns with this mission. Our goal is to make a meaningful impact by alleviating hiring struggles and enabling businesses to build strong, successful teams.
We foster a flexible and family-friendly work environment – we want our team to flourish in and out of work. We take our work seriously, but nothing is more important than family.
A Playmaker’s greatest joy is to see a team win. Playmakers can see beyond obstacles rather than setbacks; they see new learning opportunities. They have a clear vision and work relentlessly in the face of discomfort to achieve their objective. Playmakers raise the standard of work within the company and put other players in a position to succeed.
We strive to make all decisions and measure each outcome on how well it benefits our customers and employees. Getting to know people personally builds trust, which is foundational to creating a high-performing team and atmosphere.
You can’t achieve challenging goals if you don’t believe in yourself and the team. Belief doesn’t have to be perfect; it just matters that it’s there. Believe in believe.
We don’t pass the buck. We hold ourselves accountable for every single decision regardless of the outcome.

Our application process promotes equitable and unbiased hiring practices. We ask a short series of questions, similar to what you would be asked in the first interview. This helps us learn more about you right from the start, so please be sure to answer each question thoughtfully. All applications are reviewed by a team member; qualified applications undergo secondary review. Regardless of fit, we will let you know if you’re moving forward.
You’ll first meet with the hiring manager or People Operations team. We seek to understand you, your background, professional goals, and what’s important to you when choosing your next position and company. This call is an opportunity for you to ask questions about the role, company, culture, values, or product.
This is a hypothetical prompt designed to resemble key aspects of this role’s responsibilities. Each take-home project is thoughtfully designed by the hiring manager to include a grading system, concise directions, and clear goals. These projects may take between 3-6 hours to complete depending on the role. However, we never use your work product.
After the skills assessment, we’ll dive into your technical skills during 1 to 2 interviews hosted by your potential colleagues. This step focuses on the specifics of the role and provides you an opportunity to ask the team about their experiences at AvaHR.
Interviews conclude with a 1:1, 30-minute call with one of our Founder. These are typically honest conversations that allow you the opportunity to discuss any outstanding questions. Our founders are active leaders at AvaHR and genuinely interested in every person who joins the team.
We’ll ask you to provide three references who can speak to your professional experience––ideally at least one of whom you’ve reported to. These calls help us validate what we already believe to be true based on our interviews with you.
