What is a Caregiver?

Caregivers are professionals responsible for assisting people in basic daily activities and tasks.

They mainly work with the elderly, disabled people, or people with mental or chronic disorders.

Their duties range from helping them with bathing, grooming, hygiene, eating, and dressing to administering medication, transportation, and providing companionship.

Caregivers can work in the clients’ homes or in medical and healthcare facilities.

We are searching for a dedicated and trustworthy Caregiver who will provide professional assistance to patients in the need. As a Caregiver, you will assist elderly and disabled people in primary day-to-day activities and tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, moving, and general hygiene. Moreover, you will assist patients in household duties, such as preparing meals, cleaning, and grocery shopping.

Being a Caregiver is a highly rewarding job, and candidates require a special set of skills and mindset to be successful. Your primary goal in this position is to provide the best possible service and assistance to patients by being a friendly, encouraging, attentive, and pleasant everyday companion. You should also be compassionate, empathic, flexible, patient, a great communicator, and a problem solver.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in basic day-to-day activities and personal care, such as bathing, general hygiene, grooming, dressing, eating, etc
  • Understand and follow the prescribed healthcare plan
  • Administer medication and assist with physical exercise
  • Provide assistance regarding mobility, which can include helping clients in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair
  • Transport and escort clients to medical appointments
  • Monitor changes in health and behavior
  • Prepare meals and assist while eating if needed
  • Go grocery shopping or accompany clients while they go shopping
  • Perform housekeeping duties if clients are not able to (cleaning, vacuuming, doing the laundry)
  • Ensure clients’ home is safe and organized according to their needs
  • Encourage clients to socialize and engage in daily activities as much as they can
  • Maintain a safe, pleasant, and comfortable living environment
  • Communicate and regularly update family members
  • Serve as a supportive and encouraging companion

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Previous working experience as a Caregiver
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent communication skills
