They perform facials, extractions, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, waxing of unwanted facial hair, and other cosmetic and beauty treatments.
They provide beautification services to clients, evaluate clients’ skin conditions, and determine the appropriate treatment based on the client’s skin type and preference.
Furthermore, they are trained to assess skin types and recommend appropriate skincare routines or products to address individual concerns.
While Estheticians focus on cosmetic skincare, they do not diagnose or treat medical skin conditions, which are handled by dermatologists.

- Give explanations to clients' skin types treatments and recommend and advise on products or skincare routines.
- Educate clients on proper skincare techniques and recommend follow-up treatments.
- Provide hair removal services, including waxing, threading, or laser treatments.
- Apply appropriate skincare products after the treatment.
- Conduct consultations to understand client needs and skincare goals.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, following health and safety regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest skincare techniques, products, and industry trends.
- Maintain client records, including treatment details and product recommendations.
- Promote and sell skincare products and additional services to clients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a state-licensed esthetic program.
- Valid esthetician license in the state of practice.
- Proven experience as an esthetician or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of skin care techniques, treatments, and products.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to assess skin types and recommend appropriate treatments.

What education this role needs.
The educational requirements for an Esthetician typically include a high school diploma or equivalent, followed by completion of a state-approved esthetician or cosmetology program.
These programs are often offered at vocational schools, beauty schools, or community colleges and cover topics such as skincare treatments, anatomy, hygiene, and the use of esthetic tools and products.
After completing the program, aspiring Estheticians must pass a state licensing exam to practice legally.
